The Region of Sardinia, coordinator of Master Adapt and partner of Climate-KIC, has involved the cities of Cagliari and Sassari in the next Climathon that will take place on October 27, brining in the Master Adapt experience but also engaging in developing ideas, emerging from the event, within the project activities.
What is a Climathon? It is a specific hackathon on climate issues, a very interactive meeting that brings together innovators, students, entrepreneurs and professionals to work together and find innovative solutions, in this case, to address the challenges of climate change.

Cagliari and Sassari, two of Master Adapt’s experimental cities, will face two different themes, due to their characteristics and territory.
Cagliari is a city of water: sea on one side and ponds of Molentargius and Santa Gilla on the other. The challenge of the local administration is the virtuous use and re-use of water to tackle climate change. It has been working in this regard for years: implementing policies to mitigate hydrogeological risk, flooding and coastal erosion; for the protection and enhancement of wetlands in the respect of biodiversity and for their promotion for tourist and productive purposes; collaborating with public institutions and encouraging private individuals to reuse this precious resource.
In Cagliari, the group that will win the first prize will receive the gadget of the City of Cagliari and will be invited to participate in the Climathon event, organized by Climate-KIC Italia on November 9 in Rimini at Ecomondo (http: // www.ecomondo.com), the leading fair of green and circular economics in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
Sassari will focus on green infrastructure for the resilience of the city: it wants to increase its resilience to the impacts of climate change through the planning, design and realization of green infrastructures such as green roofs, permeable surfaces, arboriculture and urban forestry; green spaces such as parks and neighborhood green areas.

Deadline for registration to attend the two meetings is October 25th.
